Archaeological fieldwork throughout Leicestershire


As Jewry Wall has now closed we will be holding our meetings at Leicester University, Centre for Medicine, Lancaster Road/University Road.   Admission to meetings is free for members, non-members can attend free as their first visit and then decide if they would like to join the Society.  Please contact us if you would like to attend or just turn up and make yourself known to a member of the committee, occasional attendance without membership is also welcome.   Regular talks and meetings are also held by local groups, currently  Hinckley Archaeology Society and Melton Fieldworkers have a talks programme and other groups meet regularly to plan and review finds etc, please see the Local Groups webpage for more details.

Mike Parker-Pearson will speak about his latest project investigating the Beaker culture using the latest cutting edge techniques.

18 January 2018 – Recent discoveries in Roman Leicester

Mathew Morris will review all the recent excavations in Leicester City Centre and what this adds to our knowledge of the Roman City plan and its buildings.
